LAUGHLIN TRIP

We just got back from our annual Ridley Laughlin Trip. We have been going to Laughlin every summer for the past 20 years and we always have a ton of fun. We just enjoy being out on the lake with everyone and have a good time hanging out on the beach, eating delicious food, and tubing. On Saturday we experienced a summer storm with rain, thunder and lightning, but when we pulled of the lake we had a beautiful sunset.
Lyla Belle hanging out on the beach in her princess chair. She loved playing in the sand.
Maylee Kate hanging out on Grandpa's boat.
Cody was excited to be back in Laughlin after missing out while on his mission.
 Double tubing.
Skyler is always laughing while Jasmine always has a worried face while riding Big Mable.
Paul and I cruising on the tube.
 Skyler and Paul catching air.
Maylee loved riding on the tube.
 Girls time on the boat.
Brooklynn and Maylee love playing with their Aunt Brooke.
Grandma and Lyla cooling off in the water.
Skyler and Jasmine hanging out. Of course Skyler has a football in hand.
All the boys minus Paul on the jumping rocks. Paul was driving the boat.
Cody throwing a front roll. Not bad for not riding for 2 years.

SURPRISE FAMILY HOME EVENING

The past couple of weeks we have been having FHE. We try and plan on doing something with other couple friends, but this week it ended up being just Brooke and I. Brooke planned a little surprise activity for our FHE. She was really excited and actually kept it a secret all the way until we got to our destination. (She isn't very good at keeping surprises from me ha) We had a great time at the batting cages. Brooke swung the bat really good and I think she surprised herself when she hit the first pitch she swung at. She looks like a natural.

MY LITTLE BUDDY

A lot of you see a ton of Nixon pictures, especially on Instagram. Some of you might get tired of seeing pictures of him and some of you can't get enough, just like Brooke and I. Brooke tells our friends that he is like our little baby and it is true. He does pretty much everything with us and when he isn't able to come with us, we worry about him and miss him.  He is a lot of fun and very special to our little family.

I snagged this photo this morning. He loves his naps.

Been too long....

Man, it has been over two months since my last post. That is way too long! A lot has happened in the last few months. It seems that I blog in waves. I'm good at posting for a month or so and then I slack off and just get busy and put my blog ideas on the bottom of my "To-Do" list.
My schedule definitely has become much busier since I started coaching baseball at Murrieta Mesa. I haven't gone back to look at any of my past posts, but I am pretty sure that any post I made earlier in the year regarding baseball I was working with the freshman team, but since then I was asked to be the head Junior Varsity coach. I am absolutely enjoying my time that I get to spend on the baseball field with my team. We practice everyday from from about 2-5, depending on the day, and then usually a few hours on Saturdays. Not only the time during practice on the field is keeping me busy, but also the extra time after practice to maintain the field by watering and dragging it to  keep it nice,  making  daily practice plans, creating a line-up the night before a game and then working at fundraisers. It is a lot of work but I love it. I love getting out there with the boys and doing the drills with them. They are working hard. We started with a 3-3 record going into league games this week. We are still trying to get guys in the right position but the team is solid. We are constantly working on getting better everyday, giving 100% all the time and that is all you can ask of them. I am excited for the rest of the season and hope that we can win the majority of our games. It is my first year coaching, frustrating at times but constantly reminding myself to stay positive.  I make mistakes but  I am still learning and growing as a coach. I will try and keep you updated on the season here on my blog.
Both, Brooke and I have made changes with work recently. Brooke was offered more hours at the preschool, but was limited with the extra hours she could pick up while working part time with my dad. Work for me, with the foreclosed homes was slowing down, so I decided that I would work for my dad again at the office and that would allow Brooke to work at the preschool full time, and me to work as much as possible. Brooke loves the preschool and really enjoys working with the kids. Since taking on more hours, the preschool offered Brooke a lead teacher position, including more responsibilities and a pay increase. Brooke is really excited about this and the opportunity to have her own classroom. I have started working for my dad a few weeks ago, and I really enjoy being in the office and being able to see and talk with my dad everyday. Working at the office makes it easier for me to get to practice on time and be able to leave when I need to for games. Brooke and I stay real busy during the week and enjoy our weekends together. Brooke still finds time to make hair appointments to make a little extra cash, and I still find time to play some softball. I am not playing on a city team currently but still on a tournament team and trying to play once a month with a team. I am looking forward to the summer and hopefully put together a city league team.
I am sure most of you know from Facebook, but I was accepted to Cal State San Marcos in the fall for the Kinesiology program at the Temecula campus. I am really excited to finish my Bachelors degree. It should only take a year and a half going full time. I have been going to school for a long time and it will be awesome to finally finish and hopefully start a career. I really want to pursue athletic training and coaching, and get involved with athletics at the college level and even with a professional organization. I did finally finish my Associates degree in Physical Education at San Jacinto.
This is just a few of the many things going on with Brooke and I recently. I am sure there will be mosre posts and updates coming soon.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHAYNA

HAPPY 17th BIRTHDAY SHAYNA!
My little sister is growing up all too fast.  It is crazy to think that the baby of the family will be graduating high school this coming summer then off to college.  It is hard for me to remember when I turned 17 since it was some time ago, but Shayna has so much to look forward to.  Shayna is a senior and will be graduating this coming summer.  Her plans after high school are still uncertain, but I know that where ever she goes to college she will love it and she will make a ton of new friends and share her beautiful spirit and smile with everyone she comes in contact with.
Shayna is strong individual with a great desire to do her best at whatever she does, whether it be in school, relationships or dance.  She is a hard worker and very good student.  Shayna is very passionate about the things she loves and it shows.  She has grown up to be beautiful on the inside and out.  One of the best things I love about Shayna is her testimony of Jesus Christ and His Gospel and her commitment to be Christ-like always.
I hope you have a wonderful birthday Shay and know that Brooke and I love you very much and are so proud of you and what you have accomplished in your life so far.  We look forward to watching you achieve so much more in the future.

NIXON

Introducing the new addition to the family.  His name is Nixon.  No, he isn't named after a former
President.  However, we did get the name from my favorite watch company.  We have had Nixon now for a week and absolutely LOVE him.  He has been a handful at times but has been a ton of fun.  He wants to play constantly and loves to run around our small little place. He likes to explore any small little space he can fit into, jump or hop on anything on the ground and chew on anything in his reach.  Nixon is already pretty good at chasing a small ball and bringing it back to you as well.  He also loves to chase Brooke's feet around and bite at her toes and ankles.  Nixon is a cuddler.  He like to sleep and cuddle up right next to Brooke or I.  He has done better than expected in the house training area and learning quick.  We are trying to crate train him. Some nights are better than others, but we are constantly looking online or asking friends with dogs about little suggestions or training tips.  He is awesome with our little nieces and they love the little "puppy."  We have wanted and thought about getting a little dog for some time now and so happy that we found Nixon.  We has brought on new responsibilities, friendship, challenges and a lot of laughs and love into our home.
